While attending Alfred State College she set several school records and won national titles as a member of the Track and Cross-country teams. A top competitor in past Ridgewalk races, Julie decided to give back to the event by volunteering in 2007. Working closely with Trail Chairman Steve Chaffee, the two quickly became friends and soon thereafter fell in love and began a new life together.
